Welcome to Bowman County, the heart of North Dakota's agriculture and oil industries!

 

Bowman County's economy relies heavily on its number one industry - agriculture. Farm and ranch operations are diversified, incorporating both crops and livestock production. Spring wheat is the most extensive crop produced, but many others include peas, hay, oats, barley, rye, corn, and sunflowers.

 

Beef cattle and sheep are also an important part of the economical cycle of Bowman County. With the wide open spaces and ample prairies, the County is ideal for cattle production. The livestock industry dates back to the early 1890's and is still one of Bowman County's most important occupations.

 

Bowman County's energy sector is its largest employer with abundant oil and natural gas exploration and production. After years of production, the county ranks as North Dakota's second largest oil producer and the state ranks as the fourth largest in the nation.
