Job Requirements

This position will oversee the financial operations of BCDC and the entities it represents. This person will advise and monitor the company’s finances and produce reports to assist in business decisions. They will work closely with management to develop and implement strategies and plans to achieve the company’s short and long-term objectives.


Skills and Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, or related field.

  • Proven knowledge of financial analysis and strategy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • In-depth knowledge of financial reporting standards, tax regulations, and industry legislation
  • An analytical approach to work
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail and an investigative nature
  • Problem-solving skills and initiative

To succeed in this role, you should also have a problem-solving attitude and be able to work as a team.


Minimum Qualifications:

At minimum, an Associate’s degree in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Finance, or similar field. Bachelor’s degree preferred. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience can be substituted or 1-3 years of relevant, hands-on accounting experience.


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, as assigned. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required.

  • Experience with accounting software
  • Strong computer skills, Microsoft Excel in particular (managing spreadsheets, creating charts and using advanced formulas)
  • Solid knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, laws and regulations
  • Excellent analytical skills to manage large amounts of data
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Time management skills and ability to prioritize work


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Monitor Accounts Receivable
    • Track Aging AR with Project Managers for accounts receivable that is over 90 days and make sure there are collection efforts underway
    • Make sure we are rebilling with late fees attached to the invoice
    • Help with the collection efforts
    • File small claims
    • Work with the accounting supervisor to establish the AR allowance
  • Monitor Work in Progress
    • Monitor Aging WIP to track unbilled time
    • Work with accounting supervisor to establish the WIP allowance
  • Cash
    • Assist with entering ACH withdrawals into Financial Management software
    • Assist with tracking/updating information for daily deposits to appropriate cash accounts
  • Other
    • Assist with tracking new asset purchases and depreciation
    • Assist with preparing Sales tax reports
    • Help with the preparation of 1099’s
    • Assist with General Journal entries in Financial Management software
    • Assist with Payroll entries in Financial Management software
    • Prepare information for annual compensation for employees at year end
    • Assist with preparation of financial and statistical statements and reports


Work Schedule

This is a part-time position consisting of approximately 15-20 hours per week.


Reporting Relationships

The Accounting Assistant works under the supervision and direction of the Accounting Supervisor and will be required to work closely with the other team members in the Finance Department.


Salary and Benefits

Salary will be established at a level comparable with the position.
