Bowman County Treasurer

The position of Bowman County Treasurer is an elected position and voted upon every four years.

 

The Treasurer’s Office has the major function of collecting real estate and mobile home property taxes. The Treasurer is responsible for keeping track of all property taxes and tax payments and for mailing out tax statements and delinquent notices.

 

In addition to tax collection, the Treasurer’s Office receives and records revenues from all sources, including all the county departments, and state and federal funds. The Treasurer must record and balance the accounts daily. The Treasurer also apportions and gives each county fund and government subdivision its portion collected, on a monthly basis.

 

An important duty of the Treasurer is banking and investing and making the best use of county funds by investing them wisely to receive the best rate of return while keeping enough funds available for use by the County when needed. This all must be in keeping with the North Dakota Century Code requirements.

Tax season begins January 1st when taxes are due. A 5% discount allowed on real estate and mobile home taxes if paid in full on or before February 15th. Discounts does not apply to specials.

 

Taxes may be paid in installments:

1st Installment and all Specials:
March 1st – 3%

May 1st – 6%

July 1st – 9%

October 1st – 12%

 

2nd Installment:
Penalty on October 16 – 6%
