Ice Fishing

Who said the cold isn’t cool? When the temperatures drop, anglers find some of their best fishing opportunities. This time-honored sport can be done by simply drilling a hole in the ice and dropping a line while sitting on a overturned bucket or you can go all out with a comfortable ice house.

Fat Biking, Snow Shoeing, and Cross Country Skiing

The Maah Daah Hey is an epic trail that you can enjoy in a day trip or make an adventure out of it and complete the entire thing. This picturesque ride will take you through high plateaus, washouts prairie, winding single track trails and sweeping views of the Badlands. Pack extra water, supplies, and prepare for a great time!

Sledding

With that fresh layer of snow it’s time to go sledding. Bundle up, grab a sled or tube, and prepare for some wholesome winter fun. Some may say North Dakota is flat, but we promise you that there are plenty of good sledding hills nearby.

Ice Skating

Colder days make way for ice skating. Visit Bowman City Park for an ice rink to enjoy both day and night. With dazzling lights above it it is the perfect evening activity. Ice skate rentals are available at Bowman Parks and Recreation.

Festival of Lights

Early nights only mean more time to enjoy Festival of Lights. After the initial lighting in early December the park lights nightly through mid-January. Explore Bowman City Park as Christmas lights twinkle all around you.
