The Bowman County State’s Attorney is an elected official and voted upon every four years.
The Bowman County State’s Attorney’s Office is primarily a prosecuting agency representing the citizens of Bowman County. The office handles felony, misdemeanor, infraction and traffic cases as well as juvenile court matters, child support enforcement, and mental health hearings. The State’s Attorney is the legal advisor for all county officials and chief prosecuting officer of the county.
The State’s Attorney’s Office does not conduct criminal investigations. If you feel that you are the victim of a crime, you should report it to law enforcement for investigation. Please call 9-1-1 in the event of an emergency. If the crime occurred within city limits, it should be reported to the City of Bowman Police Department at (701) 523-5672. If the crime occurred in the county, or in a city without a police department, it should be reported to the Bowman County Sheriff’s Office at (701) 523-5421. After the investigation is completed by the appropriate agency, the State’s Attorney will review the matter and make a determination whether criminal charges will be filed and what the charges will be.
