06 Sep Bowman County Development Corporation Introduces Play It Forward Fund
Bowman, ND – August 23, 2024 – Bowman County Development Corporation (BCDC) is proud to announce the Play It Forward Fund. This new grant is designed to support projects and ideas that enhance the quality of life in Bowman County and reinvest funds back into the community.
The Play It Forward Fund is made possible through the charitable gaming revenues generated at select Bowman County businesses. For years, BCDC has dedicated these charitable gaming revenues to benefit Bowman County, utilizing them for tourism development, small business assistance, and more. Now, this new grant will serve as a way for the community to be a part of making a positive impact in Bowman County in addition to the continued support of BCDC’s initiatives.
In 2024, $50,000 will be allocated in the first funding cycle, with a minimum of five awards of $10,000 max to be distributed to deserving community-minded projects. As gaming revenues continually fluctuate, the amount to be awarded will be determined annually based on current charitable gaming revenues.
BCDC Executive Director, Teran Doerr expressed enthusiasm about the program, stating, “The Play It Forward Fund represents an exciting opportunity for Bowman County residents to come together and build a stronger, more prosperous community. We are committed to ensuring that these funds are used responsibly and transparently to support initiatives that create lasting benefits for our residents.”
Eligible applicants include charities, non-profits, community organizations, and businesses with community-focused projects. Applications will be assessed based on several criteria, including the project’s potential impact and addressing community needs. The fund seeks to support a wide range of projects, from those addressing immediate needs to those introducing creative solutions that positively impact the community.
There will be two primary giving periods annually in the winter and summer. The first giving period will be open October 15 – November 15, with decisions announced early December.
