So God Made a Farmer Mural
Utilizing Art to Brighten Up Bowman
A new mural has been installed at 20 N Main in Bowman, North Dakota. This mural celebrates the roots of the community by boldly adapting Paul Harvey’s “So God Made a Farmer” poem.
As you drive by, the vibrant colors catch your eye and lead you down the alley to fully take in the mural where you can also take a picture. This mural is the first of an agricultural series that Bowman County Development Corporation plans to bring to the business district of Bowman. This series of murals, along with the other murals in town, will encourage visitors to get out of their vehicle and walk through areas they may have previously sped by.
“We were so pleased to see our vision come to life as Cameron painted the first of our agriculture murals! We can’t wait for the community and tourists to enjoy it as much as we do. We plan to do more murals celebrating our ranchers and other key parts of our ag community in the future. Murals are just one of the many things that will continue to add vibrancy to our community,” said Brooklyn Engelhart, Creative Marketing Coordinator for Bowman County Development Corporation.
Artist Cameron Brown’s bold colors and modern strokes beautifully characterize the wheat and make the mural pop. Cameron is the middle and high school art teacher for Beulah Public School system where he has been since 2010. Cameron, his wife Savannah, and three daughters Zoey, Ella, and Letty all had a hand in helping Cameron paint the mural.
Murals help to tell the community’s story, create lasting memories, spur unique experiences, increase foot traffic and tourism, engage the community, and turn underutilized spaces into something beautiful.
A special thank you is given to artist Cameron Brown, building owner Bill Feigel, Wes Humbracht, Stephanee Germann, Darwin Wilke, and Brosz Engineering, Inc. The mural was funded in part by North Dakota Department of Commerce’s Vibrancy Grant and by Bowman Tax and Tourism.
