Bowman County Development Corporation Opens Spring Funding Cycle for Play It Forward Fund
Bowman, ND (April 4, 2025) – Bowman County Development Corporation (BCDC) is excited to announce the launch of the spring funding cycle for the Play It Forward Fund. This is an initiative that uses charitable gaming revenues to reinvest in our communities by supporting organizations and businesses with community-focused projects aimed at enhancing the quality of life in Bowman County.
The Spring 2025 funding cycle has $50,000 to be awarded to deserving projects. Eligible applicants include charities, non-profits, community organizations, and businesses with initiatives that positively impact Bowman County. Applications will be evaluated by the Play It Forward Fund committee based on their potential to address community needs and create lasting benefits.
The first round of Play It Forward funding, awarded in the Winter 2024, supported seven organizations in their efforts to enhance our communities:
Bowman American Legion Post 48 received $900 for new uniforms and cemetery flags to honor local veterans.
Rhame American Legion Post 188 was awarded $10,000 to modernize the HVAC system at Rhame Legion Hall, ensuring a comfortable and accessible space for community gatherings.
Bowman County Fair Association received $9,000 for a new entrance arch sign at the fairgrounds, creating a welcoming and lasting landmark for visitors.
Phoenix Therapy secured $3,900 for a Girls Circle Group Program, fostering self-esteem and personal development for young girls.
Bowman County School District was granted $9,000 to enhance the elementary school playground with new equipment, promoting active play for children.
Bowman Slope Council on Aging received $7,200 to help fund meal delivery services for seniors and shut-ins, ensuring access to nutritious meals and vital social interaction.
Veterans Service Office was awarded $10,000 to enhance the Veterans Wall with additional plaques, banners, benches, and a Gold Star Family plaque, honoring those who served.
BCDC Executive Director, Teran Doerr, emphasized the significance of this funding, stating, “We have a county full of organizations and people with great ideas wanting to make a difference. The success of the winter cycle shows the incredible potential of this initiative, and we look forward to seeing more impactful ideas come to life this spring.”The upcoming funding period will be open from April 15 – May 15, with awards announced in early June. Interested applicants are encouraged to apply and contribute to making Bowman County a stronger, more vibrant place.
