Demolition derby to be held ahead of county fair

One of the Bowman County Fair’s most popular events will be held two weeks before the fair this year.

The demolition derby attracts a large turnout each year during the fair but in order for the Bowman County Fair Board to add a new event, the derby had to be rescheduled.

June 28 is the new date for the demolition derby, scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at the .

This year the fair board is trying something new with the addition of a truck or pickup pull, a popular staple to many county fairs across the nation.

A is a motorsport competition that requires trucks to pull a heavy sled along a 35-foot-wide, 330-foot-long track, with the winner being the vehicle that pulls the sled the farthest.

The sport is known as the world’s most powerful motorsport.

The truck pull is scheduled for 1 p.m. July 11 during the fair.
