Go Local

Shop Local. Dine Local. Stay Local. Support Local. BE Local.

Have you thought about shopping locally? Here are ten great reasons to start:

The Goal

Did you know...90% of net new jobs in the U.S. are created by locally-owned businesses?!  They support us, so we need to support them! Please consider pledging to shift 10% of your out of town spending back to Bowman County! Your spending has a HUGE impact on our local economy, because when you spend here your money stays here.  Support our GREAT local businesses.  Our goal is to promote our local businesses, increase local spending, and decrease consumer leakage. Consumer leakage means that businesses outside the local trade are fulfilling the demand for purchase of goods and services. Therefore, demand is "leaking" out of the local area. We encourage you to visit to learn more, pledge to shift 10% of your spending, and take the leakage survey.

Our Campaign

We are working to educate our community on the importance of local spending.  Along with social media ads, we are bringing back Blue T-Shirt Fridays! The first Friday of every month, our local businesses will be wearing blue "Put Your $ Where Your House Is" shirts.

In August we will be introducing Customer Service Pins.  We want to award those who have acted with outstanding customer service.  A cross-section of individuals will receive pins.  If they experience or witness great customer service, they can give that employee the Oustanding Customer Service Pin, snap a picture, and we will promote that act!

September will be the introduction of the Local Rewards program.  A small business size card will be available to pick up at the Chamber office. For every $25 you spend locally, you get a punch. Once you have spent $250 locally, bring the rewards card back to the Chamber office, and you will be entered into a drawing for $100 in Chamber bucks! There will be one drawing per month. While supplies last, everyone that brings in a card will receive a GoLocal! ND shopping bag! Shop local and be rewarded along the way!

We are always looking to create a stronger business community! We always encourage local spending!

Get Engaged… In Your Community: Bowman Area Chamber of Commerce

The Bowman Area Chamber of Commerce consists of over 150 area businesses that make up our diverse economy.

Its recognition of new area businesses and yards of the month are just two benefits of the Bowman Area Chamber of Commerce.

Its recognition of new area businesses and yards of the month are just two benefits of the Bowman Area Chamber of Commerce.

The Bowman Area Chamber of Commerce consists of over 150 area businesses that make up our diverse economy. These businesses represent hundreds of employees who have joined together to enhance the general welfare of the Bowman area and its businesses. They strive to uphold their mission to actively facilitate the development and promotion of an economic climate encouraging business creation and expansion; initiate cooperation and communication in our community while enhancing the quality of life in the City of Bowman and the surrounding areas.

The Bowman Area Chamber of Commerce is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of 9 members and 1 Ex Officio member with a rotation of 3 board members being elected yearly. A part-time Executive Secretary is also employed by the Chamber Board. As a board member of the Bowman Area Chamber of Commerce, you help to facilitate, support, and execute the many events sponsored by the Chamber in the Bowman Area. Marketing, event planning, and promotion of our local businesses are just a few of the duties of a Chamber Board Member. Eligible board members are any citizen or business of good standing residing or doing business in Bowman County and interested in the commercial, civic, agricultural and industrial progress of the area.

Participation in the Chamber for businesses occurs via a membership. Memberships, for individuals or businesses, may be attained by the payment of dues and approval from the Board of Directors. As a member of the Bowman Area Chamber of Commerce businesses become part of a united business community, receive referrals, and show their support for the many events the Chamber participates in.

It is important to remember, if your employer is a member you are also considered a member. The Chamber thrives on volunteerism and any member can become involved in their events.

Having the events sponsored by the Bowman Area Chamber of Commerce creates a sense of place for our citizens and visitors. It encourages everyone to stay awhile and enjoy all that there is to offer. Chamber Board Member Josh Lindstrom states it best, “Having served on the Board of Directors for the last 10 years I have seen firsthand what a group of individuals who are engaged and excited about their community can accomplish by working together. This organization is all about the community, making sure to have activities and events to keep people in town, the money in town, and build on our community.

Many people do tons of work behind the scene to make sure we have a great place to live and enjoy our families. Often done with no recognition or praise, they just do it because they care. A great organization for a great cause. “
